Located in Essex, The Woodrows Nursery is situated beside Pudney Woods in Clacton On Sea. We have been at this location for 15 years and are so proud to have many of the same staff who have been here since the start. Some of whom have even seen their own children and grandchildren attend our nursery in Essex. Our teaching philosophies promote life long abilities. The methods we use encourage initiative and problem solving. This establishment doesn’t believe in little robots. We develop the children to be educated at a very high level through fun and play. All the children respond really well and are well behaved.
The local schools love to get our children as they are so advanced and ahead with their learning. By encouraging them to develop their initiative, you can see a massive improvement in their ability to problem solve. Teachers that visit from local schools often say “We wish all the children who came to our school came from The Woodrows Nursery!”
Outstanding Nursery Essex
Staff are level 3 qualification in early years and education and have done 2 or 3 years training. All new staff embark on training. Children have an allocated key worker support staff. Their key worker completes a profile of their work which you can see at any time and at parents evenings which are held once a term. We are very loving and caring with our children and build personal high trust relationships with the them and parents. Our children will be cuddled when ever they wish so they will feel secure and loved when they are not with their parents.
We support children with special needs at a high level to help them be able to go to school. Regular checks are undertaken on their progress so it’s easy to notice if any help is needed.
Parents choose us because they can see we offer much more for children to give them the best start for going to school. They know we do not just baby sit, but work hard to help them achieve their full potential.
Learning Through Fun And Play
Our nursery has routine and structure starting with registration on arrival. When learning happens, the children sit actively engaged to take part in an array of activities from dancing to recognising numbers. Then free play indoors and outdoors which is planned under the early years foundation stage which is the same curriculum as they will have at school. After free play all children sit for a wonderful story and then the morning children go home and the all day children have their packed lunch. The afternoon follows the same routine. Children have free access to a variety of healthy snack and drinks throughout the sessions. They learn to pour their own drink, and help themselves.
We are a very stimulating environment, some examples of what we do…
- Makaton sign language
- Musical instruments
- lots of maths
- phonic sounds for reading
- Digging and grow vegetables
- most of all have loads of fun
Outside play is open for the whole session after teaching time registration. We have a woods we use occasionally and a field at the back.
Caring Children’s Pre School
We teach children Makaton sign language which enables children to have a wide language vocabulary and hold wonderful conversations. Our nursery is a loving and caring pre school. The staff aren’t teenagers and are very loving with our children. All the staff are all mothers and grandmothers. As we are a small nursery, we have very close relationships with all of the children as well as parents, carers and grandparents. It’s just a little village hall but what happens inside is magical. The children love to come to nursery and are often seen skipping up the road in their uniforms excited to see us.
It is the happiest place I the manager Sharon have ever worked in 33 years. I am truly blessed to have such wonderful staff, children and parents with great friendships. The staff are kind, caring and have high levels of experience and love of children. I have 2 early years degree’s, a wide range of experience in a centre of excellence for 9 years, a special school, an early years Ofsted inspector for 5 years and had this outstanding rated nursery with Ofsted for 15 years. This is a passion to work with children to give them the greatest start in life. 50% of your whole life learning is done before the age of 5 years. The more you achieve before 5 the better your future can be.
