Brightlingsea Harbour is a Trust Port managed by Brightlingsea Harbour Commissioners. The Harbour Master leads a dedicated team of permanent and seasonal staff who oversee the day to day activities within the Harbour. Our small mixed leisure and commercial port in Tendring has a rich heritage. Every year Brightlingsea Harbour welcomes approximately 2200 visiting yachts, hundreds of power boaters, other watercraft users, dinghy sailors, racers, and now paddle board and Kayaks. Catch a ferry trip to some of the nearby areas too. During the summer months the Harbour can be very busy, so requires some careful management.

Whether you come by sea or land Brightlingsea itself is a lovely town to explore. If you haven’t spent much time here in the past then it’s worth taking a walk into the town which is a stones throw from the harbour. Check out the shops, gardens, promenade, boating lake, pubs, eateries, and Lido.
Tours And Ferry Trip Essex
From April to September Brightlingsea Harbour runs its popular foot ferry connecting the communities of Mersea Island and Point Clear near St Osyth.

Our custom-built ferry boat has a ramp which can be lowered to allow access for wheelchair users and cycles, as well as foot passengers using the service.
Get from Brightlingsea to Point Clear in 3 minutes by ferry and enjoy the breathtaking scenery of a coastal walk. Be in East Mersea in 9 minutes, zig zagging along the country paths at Cudmore Grove Country Park.
Harbour tours and a pub lunch river cruise to Wivenhoe are run throughout the season as well.
